Hi, I'm Ryan Delaney and I'm a fifth year computer science student at the University of St Andrews pursuing my passions in software development and in technical theatre.

Hi, I'm Ryan Delaney and I'm a fifth year computer science student at the University of St Andrews pursuing my passions in software development and in technical theatre. Experience working as a full stack web developer, building web applications in React and NodeJS (with the majority of my work being done in Typescript, coming from a Java background), currently working on a drop in Event and Venue Management System for deployment into Student Associations to streamline event management processes.

Beyond my academics, I spend my time immersed in technical theatre with a specialisation in lighting. Currently working as the entertainments convenor for my Students Association, managing a team of technicians with specialisations in lighting, sound, projections and AV. I'm developing my skills as a lighting designer and trying to expand my experience in specialised technical work such as pyrotechnics.

I love to learn new things and develop new projects. Always eager to talk and develop my experience and repertoire!

Worked on the infrastructure logging team, assisting a team of engineers working on a data pipeline handling hundreds of terabytes of data per day. During my internship I implemented guardrails on logging activities to preserve data integrity, automating issue creation with other teams and laying the foundations for improved access control and security to support logging of sensitive data. Primarily worked on the backend with Java, with some changes to frontend systems using React with Redux.

To say that my desire to build is far beyond the speed at which I can build systems would be quite the understatement. To keep up with everything I want to build one day and all the projects that I've started or have been put on hold for various reasons, I have started keeping track of them all in a single project masterlist. Until this point, I have simply annoyed my friends with updates on my list which led to yet another project entry - a live tracker!

Now you can see a daily update of the amount of projects on the backlog showing how quickly I'm getting through it (unlikely) or adding to it (very likely). Some of these ideas range from grand and deeply serious (for example UEMS), to the downright stupid (a star chart generator for the Ents Crew Committee). Sadly I'm not brave enough to list out all my project ideas here, so you'll simply have to imagine.
